About the Book :-
Present demographic trends have influenced the micro and macro socio-economic and development structure. There is an emerging need to pay greater attention to issues related to Gerontology in order to ensure quality of life with dignity to the elderly. This book is a modest attempt to put together different innovative ideas & academic initiatives from national & international front. The book explores some important issues for older people and aims to provide new thinking towards the ground reality that today's elderly confront. Four major themes i.e. Geriatric Health and Perspectives; Gender& Ageing; Geriatric Care &Intervention; Social Security & Policies for Senior Citizens are covered in the book. The sections are not exclusive compartmentalization; there are connections in expression of ideas depicted by the scholars from India and abroad towards better understanding of  healthy and positive ageing. The book would  be useful for scholars, practitioners, researchers, policy makers, members of civil society, students and those who are interested in the area of gerontology. It is expected that the book can enrich  the applied as well as theoretical knowledge base and open up new avenues for the senior citizens.
